Jake Paul stops Ryan Bourland with 1st round TKO

Paul had fought Andre Augusto in December, winning by knockout in the first round, but he was a similar opponent to Borland, but with less experience.

Paul defeated Borland 24-3.

“I think we need to take it to another level,” Jake Paul said. “I’m ready for the big leagues. I’m feeling better. This is my life now.”

When asked who he would like to fight next, Jake Paul said he didn’t want to say his name. Ta. However, he suggested a fighter named Canelo Alvarez.

“Hey, Canelo, stop squatting,” Jake Paul said. “I know you want it. I represent Puerto Rico. You represent Mexico. So it’s Puerto Rico vs. Mexico.”

Borland (17-3), a 35-year-old California native, snapped a three-fight winning streak.

Since the fight against Diaz, Paul has shifted to a more traditional boxing strategy in terms of opponents and gained experience with the goal of fighting for a title one day.

“If there’s a fight over money, I’ll take it because it’s fun,” Paul said. “For now, I’m continuing on my path of fighting real fighters and raising the level of competition.”

The scheduled main event boxing match between Amanda Serrano and Nina Meinke was canceled minutes before it was scheduled to take place Saturday night, as announced during the card’s broadcast in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Organizer Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) said
Serrano injured her eye on Friday and was deemed medically unfit to compete by the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission.

The event was touted as Serrano’s homecoming fight, her first fight on her home island since becoming the undisputed featherweight champion of the world. MVP announced during the event that everyone who paid for tickets to the show would receive a 100 percent refund, and Meinke would be paid in full.She apologized and said she would one day fight for retirement in Puerto Rico.

Serrano later shared her feelings after the decision on social media, saying, “Anyone who knows me knows I’m a warrior and I would never agree to a fight being called off.”

Serrano’s promoter Jake Paul won the co-main event by defeating Ryan Borland in the first round. He said Serrano’s cornea was exposed and it was extremely dangerous for her to compete. According to Paul, the injury happened 36 hours ago and since then, MVP and Serrano have been trying to get her ready to fight.

“I’m absolutely devastated,” Meinke said. “We all wanted this fight, and I wanted this fight. Puerto Rico wanted this fight. I really hope we can do it again.”

WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcácel said his sanctioning body would not strip Serrano of her title. He said Meinke will remain the mandatory challenger.

“She wanted to fight, but the doctors didn’t allow her to fight because she had problems with her left eye,” Valcarcel said. “I think the game will be postponed, but we are going to sanction the game.”
